We are neither in a sprint or a marathon – perhaps more like a triathlon.

Over the last four months we have changed and adapted to a new reality in the light of the Coronavirus.

Even though lockdown is easing we are still in a period of transition and much research states that this may be the case for the next couple of years as we seek to recover and reconstruct.

On a webinar this week (never been to one before the last four months) we were told that this wasn’t a sprint, or a marathon, but rather it was a triathlon. Whilst we may be coming to end of one phase, we are about to enter into something new, different and equally potentially as tiring.

In order to prepare ourselves as a church for what lies ahead, I would like to encourage us to use the approach outlined in the training and to PAUSE.

P – to pray
A – to assess the reality
U – to utilize our resources
S – to settle expectations
E – to explore possibilities

I would like to commend this approach for each of us over the next six weeks and seek to explore elements with you through blogs. This will mean that we take time to reflect on our own and together asking God to guide.

As part of this I would like to encourage us all to PRAY for God’s wisdom and guidance.

Every Saturday before the end of August I am committing to prayer walk a part of the parish at 9am for just under an hour and I would like to encourage me to join me if you can. If you are able to join, we will meet at St Peter and St Paul’s church at 9am and head off in small socially distanced groups to pray for our community. If for some reason you are not able to join us in person then perhaps you could pray for our community from you own home.

Any questions please be in touch.

Chris
